Within “El Barrio” de Playa del Carmen, only a block away from Playa Palms Beachfront Hotel lies this cozy little lounge. I was there to get some guidance on how to  make a special Martini from a very famous little bar, Dirty Martini Lounge and I got two. Dirty Martini Bombay and the Mocca Martini. Pay attention to how they prepare this scrumptious drinks, you might want to show off at a party.

Recipes:

1. Mocha Martini: Mix Ice, vodka, Kahlua, Baileys, liquid chocolate, shake well.  Put chocolate on the glass for decoration, serve the mocha martini with 3 coffee beans and salud!

2. Dirty Martiny: Mix Ice, gin,olive juice, Vermouth and shake well. Serve the dirty martiny and decorate it with olives on a stick. Salud!

But what I have to say really about in Dirty Martini Lounge is that I was there for only a few minutes and so much happened! I got to meet endearing owner Karen Lange, got a card for job collaboration from an ex big advertising agency owner, tried a courtesy Caipirinha ¨de la casa¨, met fun Playa Palms Hotel owners by chance (watch them, they say hello at the end of the video), got a special recipe on how to open a beer (I will have to post it in another entry) and watched life unravel as everyone danced, laughed and met one another. What can I say, this little bar has a life of it´s own, anything can happen in that slick little Lounge.

In the most amazing location and decorated in a sang-froid European style right on the white sandy beach next to Playa Palms is Indigo Beach restaurant.

With a few minutes in my hands and a camera I arrived unannounced in the morning to see if they would share a Mexican recipe for breakfast. This time we spoke to Cesar Augusto, cook from Indigo beach, who spontaneously demonstrated how to make “Enchiladas de huevo con chaya y tocino”. If you don´t know what an enchilada is take a spanish dictionary and come to the kitchen with me.

Recipe: Lightly fry corns tortillas and put them on a plate. Make normal scrambled eggs with small pieces of bacon and spinach. Fill the tortillas with these eggs and cover them with a tasty tomato sauce that you like, add a touch of cream, shredded cheese and three slices of onion and breakfast is served! I ended up eating those enchiladas on the house, they were exquisite. A well prepared tomato sauce is key, so learn how to prepare one for this dish. ¡Buen provecho!
